Tracy Petterson Musical Production Director

Tracy Petterson was eleven years old when he first picked up the guitar. A professional guitarist, music educator and composer for most of his life, he has yet to put it down. I started my musical career at the age of 17. The many bands I have been involved with include: The Swingin’ Teens, Morticia, SuperLoser, God Came From Space and Pistol Whipped, and Circus DeSade. I have worked with members of Dumpster Juice the Flamin’ O’s, Replacements, Matt Fink of Prince and the Revolution, Curtis A., and the Magnolias. As the lead guitarist for The Swingin' Teens, Tracy toured the states through the early to mid nineties, playing up to 200 gigs a year and leaving behind the original recordings Henry, and Caught on Too Late. . I have played gigs with Green Day, Nirvana, Soul Asylum, Goo Goo Dolls, True Sounds of Liberty.
He later worked as a sideman and session musician in Los Angeles, CA before moving back to Minneapolis in 1986, where he continued to perform frequently. While playing in a variety of groups on guitar, lap steel, and mandolin, Tracy operated his own Tyler Street Records, releasing and distributing albums by Justin Roberts, Frisbie, The Autumn Defense, and Oh My God.
Having played and studied music theory and jazz improvisation on the road, Tracy began teaching private guitar and bass lessons in 1990. He has taught consistently in the Minneapolis area since 1990, seeing as many as 40 students per week.
After many years and thousands of dollars wasted he decided to devote his attentions to audio production. End result, Electric Zombieland, a high-end rehersal/recording/showcase venue.
The instruments I play include: guitar, bass guitar, keyboards, drums and saxophone. I have sung both lead and backup and have had professional voice training. As a performer he has played venues large and small including CBGB, First Avenue, festivals like Lillith Fair and SxSW. He has shared the stage with Los Lobos, Sheryl Crow, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, The Smashing Pumpkins, Robert Earl Keane, Govt. Mule, Sara McLachlan, Web Wilder and the Nashvegans, and many more.
